Gift From The Burd

Yep, Lee and I, Sweet William The Scot, got a letter.
It is surprising it found our P.O. Box.
It was addressed to Lee and William with the address of the post office where my box is.  There are hundreds of P.O. Boxes at that address and without my full name why it is a miracle I got the envelope.
I said to Lee probably just junk mail but Lee opened and surprise surprise.
Why the burd, Kismet, had given a donation in my name to Rescue Me.
Now another dog has some hope.  Isn't that the nicest thing to do.
Thank You Kismet!
I tell our Spikey about Kismet all the time.  Here Spikey was Christmas Day.  The feeder sits on our kitchen window and when Lee is in the kitchen by the sink Spikey sits in there and watches her.  Our back door is by the window, so when I go out he darts down to greet me.  Lee says sometimes I act happy to see him other times I act like I am annoyed "like bird get a life".
On the night it got to -18 Lee put a Grab an Go heater packet in the bottom and left the kitchen light on.  In the morning Spikey and three other little birds were all huddled in the feeder keeping warm.
Spikey still follows me in the house some but usually wants back out sooner.
These were my Christmas cards, why I even got a card from the post office.  They call me "William The Dude". We thank everyone who sent us a card, our name was not on the list this year.
Well we promise this is our last Christmas post.  Lee finished putting away our decorations.

Thanks for being a friend
Traveling down the road and back again
Your heart is true and your a friend of mine.

  2. Our stuff returned to the attic this weekend, even our Christmas toys. Mom says they will return as always after Thanksgiving next year. The next big holiday toy haul is Easter. She lets us keep our holiday hearts since Katy uses them as pillows and we've never seen dog toys for St. Patrick's Day.

    1. We hand raised Spikey from before he was a fledging. He lives between two worlds that of the wild and a tame bird. We seldom see chickadees in Nati City.

  10. What a wonderful surprise from Kismet. You must have the best Post office people in the nation for them to get the mail to you. I am glad to see Spikey is still with you. You are a great parent Sweet William. I do not know why but some times I can leave a comment and sometimes the computer will not let me. Just know that I always read your blog and enjoy your posts.

  11. That is so cute. Kudos to the PO people for knowing which box the card should go to. You're famous William the Dude!

We love your bird story. Can't say our magpies are as sweet. They're more like hooligans. Great idea to keep the little birds warm on cold winter nights.

Blogger is driving us nuts with its SLOW to publish comments, too. Grrrrr!

  15. What a wonderful thing for Kismet to do and what an amazing idea of Lee to keep the little birds from freezing. Mom has this really large UGLY bush in the backyard (evergreen) that she won't let Dad cut down as the shrubbery is really dense and it's protected by the house and porch on three sides so lots of little birdies go in there when the weather is nasty.

  23. Hi Sweet William! Your bird friend sure is cute, but of course not as cute as you are! We have lots of birds at our feeders too, but none want to come inside with Katie! Katie thought about sending you a card but her silly mama doesn't have your address any more. Oh well, she'll just say Happy New Year to you here!
