Presents From South Africa

On the first day of Christmas my true friends, Samuel and Wallace sent me a box.
Yep I, Sweet William The Scot, got a box!
Okie Dokie Lee said I could work at opening and lookie when I got it open it was wedged full.
Now I have to start opening the wrapped presents!

I got a postage tag stuck to my face!
I open my own presents.
WooHoo I got a stuffie!

The gifts that represent their country mean the most to us.  The Ndebele Fertility Doll well I doubt if she can help here since Lee and I both have had our ectomies but we think she is so sweet.  Lee over the years has collected pin cushions and we think with her soft head she will sit with the pin cushion collection.
A towel set with pot holders which have Nguni Cattle native to South Africa well we will have a hard time using them but they will come out for special occasions.
Zulu bead pin.  Each color represents something.  When Lee wears that I know many
people will ask her and she can pass on the story that it came from the Soul of Africa.
When I or Lee wear the sunflower bandanas people ask us about them.
And goodies galore.
The one box sure held a lot of presents.
We decorated our fireplace mantel only this year.  Simple but festive.
For Christmas we served cranberry walnut stuffed pork chops, apple cranberries in a sweet sauce, steamed green beans with a fresh mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes and home made rolls.
Lee baked a white cake and decorated it with blue poinsettia cream frosting.
We sure do miss Samuel and Wallace there are just so many who don't post anymore.

We got a very short Christmas greeting from Puddles another one we have lost.

Thanks for being a friend
Traveling down the road and back again
Your heart is true and your a friend of mine

  2. Sweet Wil, you look so silly with the labels stuck on your furs. :) But it's great you open your own pressies (and some of your Mom's too, me thinks). Your fireplace area is lovely, and your Christmas supper looks delicious. Did your Mom really decorate that cake herself? She could go into business!! Love, licks and wiggles.

    1. Yes Lee decorated the cake. She took a professional cake decorating course with Fantasy In Frosting years ago. Don't learn unless you expect to be hit upon by friends to do their wedding cakes which Lee has done many times. We have shown all of our icing tips and decorating a cake in one of our previous post.

  4. We hope you and Lee had a wonderful Christmas! We got to speak to our friend who is living in Namibia, she was going to Cape Town for the New Year - We wonder if she saw a black and a wheaten Scottish Terrier when she was out and about?

What a beautiful cake! Your Lee is very talented!

  10. Those presents from South Africa are so special. And your Christmas dinner looks totally yummy. Gail too goes for the 'simple but festive' look and we think your mantelpiece is most attractive.
And rest assured Sweet William, I have plenty still to say on my blog! (And I hope you do too - we love reading about your Nati City).

    1. The cake only takes three icing tips. I used like a Wilton 366 tip for the poinsettia. Basically a leaf tip. Happy New Year Pea

    2. So Wills I need some tips on training the human. I was up at 3am , awakened by the dredded possum. So I was trying to tell the humans that he was in the garden. They get up early this morning and they noticed the apricot tree had been stripped of its fruit and the rest half eaten. If they had listened to me they would have known that I was telling them the little darling was in the tree. So I am looking for tips as to how I train them to listen to my alerts. Love Pea

    3. Oh No! The fruit is gone? To taste life's fruit sometimes you have to go out on a limb and I guess that old possum was willing. Humans require a lot of work to train but their minds are like flowers, they only open when the time is right. And sometimes the right time involves money. So maybe in having to buy apricots they already have been taught to listen to you.

  17. We are SO happy you enjoyed your goodie box Lee and Wills! Mom also did minimal decorating this year, she says things just aren't the same anymore and didn't have the ooomph needed to go all out.
Your Christmas dinner looked amazing. We hope you got to share it with friends. And Lee's cake is gorgeous! We had no idea Lee decorated cakes, our mom also did a course a few years back.
Well, a very Happy New Year to you both. We hope you have a brilliant year.
    Much love,
    Wally, Sammy and mom
