It's Solar Impulse Plane!!
It is kind of windy today, but I want to show you what I, Sweet
William The Scot, got to see.
The Solar Impulse Plane landed just two miles from my home at Lunken Airport.
This landing was planned only the day before.
It was one of only a few where the general public were allowed up close to the plane.
It flys on solar power WOW!
It is flying around the world on solar energy WOW!
It was a huge success for renewable energy.
Here the crew is pulling the plane by hand up to the terminal so the public can view.
The crew pulls it with a harness like horses.
Some of the Swiss Crew rides bikes out to the plane.
One of Ground Crew. He was so friendly and has such a nice smile. Told me what town he was from in Switzerland and all about the plane.
Lee loved his accent.
There were a lot of women on the crew.
The next morning Lunken Airport was fogged in. The dampness made the crew have to siphon the water out of and off of the solar panels before it could take off.
11,000 solar cells are on the super-long wings that seem to stretch as far as a jumbo jet's. It weighs about the size of a small car, and soars with what is essentially the power of a small motorized scooter
One of the two pilots talking to the media.
I got to meet pilot Bertrand Piccard, doctor, psychiatrist and aeronaut, who made the first non-stop round-the-world balloon flight. He flew around the world in a hot air balloon WOW.
He liked me a lot. Lee had me in a big backpack so I was not walking on my leg.
This happened on June 14th, my leg is better now.
Lee was so tired, but it was worth the effort to see history being made.
Almost ready to leave Lunken.
Ohio is home to a lot of aviation history.
One of the Wright Brothers great granddaughter came to see this plane.
Lunken Airport has seen some history.
In 1927 Charles Lindbergh landed at Lunken and was mobbed by well-wishers.
In 1964 a large crowd of fans greeted The Beatles as they flew in to and out of Lunken for their concert at Cincinnati Gardens.
In 2011 the airport served as a backdrop for scenes in the film The Ides of March.
ByeBye Solar Impulse Plane.

The cross-country flight is a tuneup for a planned 2015 flight around the globe with an up-graded version of the plane.
