Friends I Have Made Along The Way

If you are like me, Sweet William The Scot, you have made friends with people and their pets who are not bloggers but stop by with a comment and e-mail you.
People who care about our lives.  When we are down they e-mail us to cheer us, when we are sick they send us cards and they rejoice when things are going our way.
Well here are a few of those I have had the delight in getting to know.
This is Pea.  Pea lives on the other side of the world and is moving to QLD.
Queensland will have acreage and a lattice enclosed verandah where Pea will be able to supervise all.  In the move Pea will be taking two planes.  Pea is sixteen years young.
Here is Gailen wearing his purple people eater costume for Halloween.  Gailen lives with his bro Bentley on the east coast.
Now Bentley is the communicator.  Why he has even tried to help us get our house sold.  He sent us a Saint Joseph Statue - Home Selling Kit.
Always bury the statue upside down it said. The theory behind this request claims that Joseph will work harder to leave the ground when buried upside down so he can find a comfortable home in which to dwell.
  • Some say that burying the statue sideways so that Joseph’s praying hands are pointing directly at your house helps direct potential buyers to your home.
  • Or bury a St Joseph statue in the backyard of your home near a flowerbed, shrub or other natural growth to expedite selling your home.
  • You can also choose to bury St. Joseph one feet underground (again, to make Joseph work harder to leave the ground and quickly find a nice home) next to your For Sale sign, even if it is in the front yard.
  • Once your house is sold, dig up the St Joseph statue and give it a place of honor in your new home.
Well we think St Joseph expedited our flowers as our flower beds grew double.

We had an offer of $105,000 on the house without it being up for sale.

The couple had looked at the house next door and it did not pass housing inspection.  They were sad and Lee asked if they would like to see inside my house as I was thinking of selling if I could get a certain condo.  They were renting a house month to month and could stay where they were for awhile.

Lee took the offer contingent on us getting the condo in the development that was up for sale where two of our friends live.  They said they would take our offer but leave their condo in pending till my people got their loan in order (which was not going to be a problem ~ other than the bank had a backload of 45 days).

Well the condo got a higher offer, Lee countered but they came back again higher than Lee could go.

We hate realtors.

So the deal all went down the toilet  ~ I dug up St Joseph and now have Joseph sitting on the mantel.
Yep it was bury dig him up, bury dig him up for awhile this Spring.
Next is Nessa who lives out in Nevada.  Nessa is eleven years old and is quite the gopher digger.  Yep she digs so much she has worn her Scottie beard off.  She is a dirty sock thief also.
Now Bella and I are out on the Halloween haunt for more great friends.

Thanks for being a friend
Traveling down the road and back again
Your heart is true and your a friend of mine

  1. Hi Sweet William,
How nice to hear from you and to meet some of your email friends. It's too bad the house sale and condo purchase didn't work out - the property business here in the UK is no fun either, although you will be pleased to know that the system in Scotland is generally fairer than that in England!
    Toodle pip!

  2. Sorry to hear you didn't get to sell your house and move to the condo. Hopefully something will come along soon that will work out for you. It was fun meeting your friends. We hope you and Bella get lots of great treats when you are out for Halloween.

As Bertie has mentioned, here in Scotland the situation is that once an offer has been accepted that's it; cannot be 'gazumped'. It stinks you didn't get that condo - but you knows I'sa glass half full gal and am certain it was cuz there is something even better fur you all waiting on some street somewhere closeby. (If it helps, the friend I visited after being with you tried the buried saint thing and it didn't work... so she dug it up, signed on her new place anyway and within two weeks the old house sold! I think it is great news you have an acceptable offer on your place without pressure to get out. Putting up some POTP for you and Lee to find that new place!) Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. Here you can gazump right up to closing. They put up pending or delisted all sorts of terms on the selling property with taking pack up offers. I don't think I would trust a sale till I had the title in hand and my furniture move in.

  5. Our cousin in Pennsylvania always used Joseph. The last sale took awhile, but it did go through eventually. Good luck. Can't gazump here either.

    Love all the pictures.

    1. The median home price for where I live in the community of Mount Washington is $189,444. We live in an itty bitty home with a big yard. Itty Bitty keeps it from selling.
I know the cost in California is way way more than here. Wish we could afford more. Lee spent to much money taking care of her parents. They should have saved for their own retirement instead of expecting Lee to always take care of them.

  13. Revenge is sweet. The realtors don't get their 6%. Every time we go house hunting, we meet realtors. Is it just me or does every female realtor spend the previous night marinating in (cheap) perfume?

    1. Lawyers ~ Realtors all use cheap perfume and cologne for the fees they charge. Lee is a complete failure in selling this house.
Well at least Lee contacted Dodds Monument and is having her grave stone engraved. She can succeed there.

  14. HI Wills , Pea here. Love your work on the photos. You do have some lovely friends. Existence will take care of the house at the right time. You know we do not really need a big space. Big emphasis on down sizing in Australia now. Have to get on my brroooomstick now

  15. Hi Wills, I meant to ask you is Bella your girlfriend. I think she lives in Australia too. So I guess it is a long distance relationship

    1. I have had two girlfriends. My first one went to the Rainbow Bridge. Then Bella grabbed me up. Why we have so much in common. She is just a few months older than me and our peeps were born on the same day and they have the same political views. Bella's peep hails from the USA but moved to Aussie Land years ago. It is an e-mail relationship. But I love her.

    1. For the first time in 23 years Lee did not cook nor did we go anywhere. It is just the two of us and we raked up major leaves. But Lee did bake us a most delicious pumpkin cheesecake. Is your move finished?

    2. No it is not. We have exchanged on the house........ waiting to settle...... It is not the house we first paid a deposit on as they refused to get the tenant out. But we found another one that is lovely and there is a cat door into the laundry. Hopefully they will own this next week and then plan the move. Mum is packing and they have a friend whose stuff they have in the garage when she moved back to Germany and they are of course taking it with them in case she arrives back. By the way pumpkin cheescake sounds nice and you had each other..... Love Pea

    3. Oh Pea house buying and selling is just an enigma to us. Lee was telling a friend the other day when her grandmother sold the farm the buyer back out over the weekend and the auctioneer ended up buying it for pennies on the dollar. The loss was unbelievable. Then her grandfather on the other side well Lee's uncle ended up buying his home and when he died the neighbor bought it and uses their original home for rental. And our house which was Lee's mothers, Lee bought at full price because her mother was neck deep in debt ~ we never wanted this place. Seems like selling property is something not possible in this families blood.

  18. I and my petcretary enjoyed reading al about your furends and the tale of your statue. Maybe the statue doesn't want to leave your den??

I hope you had a lovely and bountiful Thanksgiving. You and all of us are so blessed. I am grateful that you are one of my furends, too:)

  19. We must have missed the post where you talked about trying to sell your house. I hope it all works out this year. Maybe you'll find an even more perfect condo! And I hear the real estate market is hot in some parts of the country! Maybe you'll get an even better offer!

    1. We did not truly post about trying to sell but those who e-mail us know we have been wanting to move since Lee almost died three years ago and was left with the severe vertigo. We never wanted this home. We paid full price for the family home to get her mother out of debit and into a nursing home.

    1. Hi Pea ~ Lee and I wish you would have found our blog when we posted every week. It is like you found us when we were dwindling. Christmas past Lee and I would paint store front windows and help the Children's Choir with The Friendly Beasts Song painting the animals and playing guitar or when we rode on an old wagon in the Christmas Parade or when we went with the children to the Krohn Conservatory or Santa at the Aquarium. This year we have just spent a lot of time by ourselves. Lee's kidney is just making her sick. We always give to the shelters paying it forward at Christmas and pray that Santa finds a home for them.

    2. We were hoping that Lee was feeling a little if not a lot better. Perhaps next year you two could get up to doing that wonderful charity work again. You have each other and don't forget that my mum and I think of you both every day even though we are on the other side of the world. And that young Morrie seems like a lovely young Scottie. I wonder where in Australia he lives? By the way we love your Christmas page. You and Lee are so talented.
