Seuss Day

Well it's time for the Dr. Suess Book Club and here we are, all
my non blogging friends, in the Dr. Suess Garden each with our favorite book or quote.

Now Nessa with the dirty nose who spends most of her days digging for gophers says her favorite book is Fox in Socks.
"New socks Two Socks Whose Socks"
because that is what her Mama says when she finds Nessa sleeping on her socks.  What dog does not enjoy a snooze on their peeps socks.

Now for my dear friend, Bentley the dapper wheaten Scot, why he says his favorite quote would be

"Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory."

How many of us wish we just had one moment to do over. So cherish those moments and make the most of everyone that you are given I, Sweet William The Scot, says.

Now for Winslow, Bentley's baby bro, well he thinks the bestest Dr. Seuss quote would be

"To the world you may be one person; but to one person you may be the world."

Yep our peep is our one person, our world, the one to whom we give our undeviating love.
Be kind to us for we love you so.
Are they not the cutest pair?

Now for my quote

Hartman Log Cabin

The Hartman Log Cabin is in Williamsburg, Ohio.
The Plaque reads
Dedicated to Christopher Hartman who emigrated from Germany in 1753 fought in the American Revolution and settled in Clermont County in 1801; to his grandson John Kirby Hartman, who purchased this site in 1838; and to their relatives and descendants. Restored by the Clermont County Park Commission in 1992.
The Hartmans were early settlers of Jackson Township an built this log home in 1838.
This was here when Lee's ancestors arrived in 1846.
The historic log cabin is available for rent for family reunions, birthday parties or holiday dinners.
We saw a lot of those quilt patterns painted on barns and house when we were on Lee's ancestry trail.
When we stopped they were putting on a new wood slat roof.
Another old stone home but see the quilt pattern painted on the work addition.
You can find a map that takes you to each one of those quilt patterns.
Lee says some day we just might go and get close up shots of them.

Sale Shop Till Lee Drops

We have a small shop not far from our home that every nook and cranny is filled to the brim with delightful seasonal things.
I, Sweet William The Scot, always have to wait at the door for Lee when she goes in.
We do not sell on Etsy but we do sell our specialty items here.
This year besides Lee's hand painted porcelain tree ornaments which customers order Lee sold these.
Little houses that shine.  Lee custom made a few to look like buyers homes.
Today feels more like Christmas it is cold and we have snow.
Christmas day was warm and we did yard work.
We just thought we would show you all the ornaments and baubles that this specialty shop has to offer..
All the gorgeous whatnots for the Christmas Holiday that are now 50% off.
The embellished glittery adornments.
The sugary candy cookie tree.
The old fashion flowery look.
This little shop is filled to the brim.

I Went To Podunk

'Where in the world is Podunk?' A correspondent asked that question of the editors of the Buffalo, New York, Daily National Pilot in 1846, then answered himself: "It is in the world, sir; and more than that, is a little world of itself.
Yep I, Sweet William The Scot, went to Podunk.
Lee drove us over this bridge, that is not a rail across the end but a guardrail to keep you from going straight down a hill once you are over.
Do you think America needs work on it's infrastructure??
We saw a lot of these.
Yep I sure prayed there was cell phone connection out here because most places seemed to be abandoned. Is it a fixer upper or a tear downer??
Wonder if the landlord would look the other way on rent for the people who are not receiving a paycheck during our government shutdown??  Maybe President Trump's Make America Great Again could slap some paint here.
I got to see cows and horses.  Why I even got to smell a fresh cowpie or a meadow muffin. Neither words are appropriate.  Why Pies and Muffins look good and taste great.  I would not taste one of those things if I was starving!  They say burning cow dung repeals mosquitos, yep I can understand that.  This city dog was repulsed that a cow could do such a thing.  Why I did not even want to leave pee mail on it for another dog to read.
Well we finally got to where we thought it was and Lee was right!
Lee had found the grave of her great great grandfather from France.
(I think my nose is still smelling the cowpies in this picture or maybe it's not I see dead people but I smell dead people)

He left France when King Louis Phillippe was overthrown and with Louis Napoleon Bonaparte election to the Second Republic.  Oh heck it was a Revolution.
But being here fifteen years later America is in a Civil War where two of his sons fought.
Lee says the line in the OUTLANDER Books "We can't be on the wrong side of history again" applies here.  Leaving a war to come to a war CRAPS!
Yep we were on Lee's genealogy trail.
Lee are we done yet!  How far from civilization are we?
Oh that U.S. Geological Survey says for information write the Director Washington D.C. well you had better wait awhile because the Government is in shutdown.

PS ~` Lee is three times Daughters of the American Revolution, meaning her family was here when America was still a British Colony and the fourth side came before the Civil War being here over 183 years.
