Drink UP

Okie Dokie today I, Sweet William The Scot, am going to talk to you about something serious ~ BOOZE!!
Pour me a shot!

The other night we had a visitor to our Book Club, Molly Wellmann, a Cincinnati-based bartender, bar owner and general cocktail aficionado.
Molly's book begins with an introduction to bar basics but then her book
“Handcrafted Cocktails” takes the unique approach of categorizing cocktails by the time of day in which they’re best enjoyed.
Molly sure loves her TATs even in the coldest weather she is always in sleeveless outfits.
Molly always has a smile on her face  she is a very GENUINE person.
So lets get Sloshed!
Drinks vary from classics, to some of Molly’s original concoctions. One such drink, the Green Lantern, combines tequila with pineapple juice, cilantro, mint and jalapeno for a healthy shot in the arm on a particularly bleary morning.
Moving toward afternoon drinks you’ve got staples like the Mint Julep.

How dry I am ~ How wet I'll be if I don't find that backyard key.

Dinner-time drinks look to whiskey in cocktails.
After-dinner drinks include things like an Apple Butter Toddy and a Rusty Nail, as well as the lush Hanky Panky, which combines gin and sweet vermouth with Fernet.
Molly gives some of the recipes historical background and a handful of personal anecdotes for an easy read from start to finish.

Oh I'm hammered blasted fried blitzed!

Oh did you know George Washington's distillery has been rebuilt.  After a nearly 200-year hiatus, George Washington's still is bubbling again, churning out the same sort of rye whiskey that made the Founding Father the nation's most successful whiskey producer in the years after his presidency.  It sell limited quantities of the whiskey - up to 5,000 gallons a year.
Remember during the Holidays always have a  "designated driver".

Thanks for being a friend
Traveling down the road and back again
Your heart is true and your a friend of mine

  10. Sweet William, you show by this post you are true to your Scottish roots! Only last night we were learning on the news here that Scots imbibe, on average nearly twice as much alcohol as their English cousins. Way to maintain the tradition, my bonnie wee laddie!

  17. Sweet William, did you know that when a person gets a tat there is always a meaning behind it, its true ...our dad has them all over the place ...mom is not sure what the meaning behind the girl with no shirt on was but she doesn't like it. He got one in Greece also on his stomach that is a tiger coming out of his skin, mom just shakes her head...okay now onto the most important thing, could you mix up my mom one of those hot toddy apple pie drinks she forgot to drink any juice for breakfast and she is just sure this will do the trick!
    Thanks so much

  20. *bangs metal pot with metal spoon* Bang-Bang-Clang-Clang....Dang!....you must have one mighty hangover after all those cocktails, Sir William! And what is with no discussion of the finest of Scotches? Being a Scottish lad, I would think that would be your booze of choice. Well, I better go pour me-self a round. It's 5 o'clock somewhere!
