Baby It Was Cold Outside

Lee put on my boots and hat and told me it was cold outside!
Lee was right!!  Cincinnati saw wind chills in the range of -30 to -40 degrees last week.
The Ohio Emergency Management Agency warned people to stay inside last Monday if possible.
Stay inside man a dog has to do his business.
Every time I went out Lee had to come out and get me because I kept sliding down the driveway!
The steam off of the Ohio River could be seen on my hill.  Because of the cold the steam created snow.  The first time we have ever seen snow come from the river not the sky.
Ruby the Airedale you would have loved this because bubbles actually froze in the air and you could catch them and crunch them.
Early morning the world looked all black and gray.
We had ice then we had snow, 8 inches, and we had ice, then we had snow.
Will the weather ever make up it's mind?
But the sun came out and everything still stayed frozen.
See how everything looked in my backyard, that's ice.

The cold snap was due to a "polar vortex" that descended into much of the U.S. last Monday, bringing dangerous cold that broke decades-old records.
Good Bye Polar Vortex and don't you come back no more no more no more no more.

    Thanks for being a friend
Traveling down the road and back again
Your heart is true and your a friend of mine

  1. AROOOOOO there SW!!!! We're finally back! Mom and Dada made it out of Dulles Intl. by the skin of their teeth, if their flight were 2 hours later it would've been grounded and they'd be living in the airport!

Now make sure you keep warm and please send Lee our love and licks - we are sorry to hear she was in hospital, we hope that everything is ok.

  2. Well sitting here indoors in the warmth, your polar vortex photos look stunningly beautiful. But how fortunate you have such a great set of cold weather clothes Sweet William. Why, even I might deign to wear some sort of a winter outfit over my natural furs, if it ever got so cold in Scotland (which it never does, despite us being much further north - thank you Gulf Stream!)
    Toodle pip!

  5. Hi Sweet William and Lee. I am very sorry to hear that Lee was in the hospital. Hope you are feeling better and improving every day. Ice is beautiful and very deadly all at the same time. About 15 years ago we had so much ice the tops of the tree broke and the forest looked like a war zone. Our weather man thinks that vortex will come back. I hope the weather man lost his marbles in the vortex because I do not want to get that cold again.

    1. We were worried that tree branches would break but only a few came down. None of us want it to be that cold again. Thanks for stopping by Bentley.
