DNA Test for Sweet William The Scot and Lee

Lee decided this past Christmas she would send away for an Ancestry.com DNA Testing Kit.
Family history is in our DNA.  We are going to discover Lee's ethnicity.  Lee's father always said the family was from Sweden.  Lee's mother said she was related to the Queen of England.  Lee always did a silent Bawheheeee and rolled her eyes when she heard that.  Lee's mother had mental illness and was always on antidepressants or psychogentic medication.  It was a Prozac World for her mother.
Lee is the last of her line and has no close relatives at all.
So we are going to research and see what Lee's DNA has to say.
This picture was taken in the early 1900s of some family members.
I, Sweet William The Scot, did a DNA Gentic Test also.  Two years ago a call went out to us Scottish Terriers.  To look into markers that might stop some diseases in dogs, Scottish Terriers in particular since we are dying younger and younger.  I know a lot of the Scottie Bloggers filled out all the questions we were asked.  As far as I know I was the only one chosen to be in the testing.
Yep my kit came from the Van Andel Research Institute

Have you researched your ancestry????
Do you want to follow us on our journey to find our roots??
We would like to tell you about how the samples are taken and some of the questions I had to answers.  You would be appalled at how my grandparents were treated and amazed at a few things.
We would post from time to time about the information we find out about us if you would be interested.

( My eyes are O.K. the red eye setting on our camera is acting funky.)

Thanks for being a friend
Traveling down the road and back again
Your heart is true and your a friend of mine

  24. Pawppy loves Scotties...his family raised several litters when he was a child, and they were a 'hotel' for Fallah (the dog acting as/standing in fur him in the movie about the late president)and pawppy even has a pic of himself with said doggy when pawppy was about 5, I think...

Anyways, pawppy says his Dad said they were Scottish, even though they (and we now carry it) had German/Danish surnames, BOL!
Some relatives in the past history were ship builders.
Growlmy is a Canadian...her claim to being related to Her Majesty?? But her pawrents came from The Netherlands. Hmmm...they have a king now, they had several queens before him.

(And there are some late-uncles of growlmy who were of the Order of Orange, which is like being a knight...OMD, I shall get a swelled head!)

Well, anyways its all furry interesting to know ones heritage.
You are royalty too, William is a furry noble name of kings and others.

Have a great time with DNA!

    2. Do ya think?? He would be dancing in his grave if he knew he was, BOL!

Yes, the Viking peeps even had some influence in the mainland Europe area.
But um...if'n we were of that Danish/German heritage and Dutch as well, well, Denmark is a Viking area I do think?

  26. OOOH! This is right up mom's alley! She LOVES stuff like this. She says that one day when she has more time she would like to do a study of her family. Apparently we had some witches on Grandpa's side of the family. We're not sure if people are referring to the Salem kind or the Bee with an itch kind though *BOL*
We look forward to finding out more about you and Lee's ancestry.

  31. We'd luv to hear all 'bout yer testin' and whut ya find out.

Momma's uncle did da DNA thing a few years ago-- both sides of da family (and Dad's too) were inta da geneology thing back 'fore it got popular... so we've been traced back to England and Scotland and Ireland (mostly)....

Well, Momma's uncle showed up a good percentage Viking... well, dat are not a surprise considerin' da history of dem raidin' da British Isles...

  32. We would love to hear about the results! Thanks for offering to take us along on your journey to ancestors past! Much love, The Scottie Mom.
