I know all of you were praying as was I for a great checkup with good news.
Sweet William has healed with nice pink skin on the outside but he has and infection which the ClinzGard Barrier Gel, a sustained release antibiotic did not kill..
Now he is on fourteen days of oral Clindamycin.
Clindamycin is used to treat serious infections caused by bacteria.
His gland has moved because of scar tissue to the seven o'clock position which means he will need to be expressed from the inside. But if the antibiotic wipes out the infection the vet does not believe Sweet William will need surgery.
I have a list of signs to look out for and if they occur I have to get him to the vet immediately but if the swelling goes down and the antibiotic does its work, I don't have to take him back for a month.
We noticed that it was the 75th anniversary of United Dairy, so since Wills was such a good boy at the vet I treated him to a dip of vanilla ice cream for 75cents. Wills did not eat all of his ice cream or the treat stuck in the ice cream so I know he is not feeling well.

We have a funny side occurrence, well if anything about this accident can be funny, my Wills now wags his tail up and down not sideways and I swear he grins when he does.

Here's the church, and here's the steeple
Open the door and see all the people.
Here's the parson going upstairs,
And here he is saying his prayers.
HERE is the church (put your hands together)
and :HERE is the steeple (point your pointing fingers straight up to make a "steeple")
then,: OPEN the doors (open your thumbs)
and :LET OUT the people (wiggle your entwined fingertips so that it looks like people exiting a church)
Children love this nursery rhyme as it combines lyrics and words with actions

It was probably steeped in English history where the architecture of churches and its steeple dominated the skyline of all towns.
We took these pictures before Sweet William The Scot got hurt.
Well here is the door!
Well here is the steeple!
Well open the doors!
The church is gone! Where did the church go!
I am so confused!
The church and the people are gone!
I, Sweet William The Scot, guess someone beamed them up!

The Walnut Hills Presbyterian Church's impressive Gothic Tower still stands. In 1819,
Rev. James Kemper helped to establish the First Presbyterian Church of Walnut Hills. The remaining tower of the church still exists today.
It is alleged that but for the presence of Mr. Kemper and his family in our town and ready to begin building a church, and his example of rallying people to take care of the sick, wounded, weary and distraught army of St. Clair, most of the people coming to Ohio would have stampeded south. He was held in high esteem among Native Americans for his bravery.

Oh Sweet William...I think about you so much. I'm so sorry you haven't recovered completely yet. That "accident" should NEVER have happened in the first place.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, we remember that little song. I still sing it to the grand kids.
Sending love and PawHugs to both of you...
♥♥♥
Keep on wearing your medal to keep you safe and well S. Will and know we are all here praying for you. We remember that song, mom says she used to play it when she was little girl.

You can wag in any direction you want just as long as you're happy.
ReplyDeleteSw. William I'm sending you a coded sideways wag..hopefully you can decoded it!! If not, it says
ReplyDeleteheal well and be sure to 'milk' the ice cream snack for all it is worth.
So I guess we can say you speak new tail dialect now. Very interesting side effect.

Ringy-Dingy 1...Ringy-Dingy 2..."Better" was I hoping to hear about you! Well, Sir William, I hate to hear that though the wound healed on the outside it is still all icky-yicky on the inside! I hope, Hope, HOPE the antibiotic will do the trick and get you right as rain again! And oh...what a good little chuckle with that little church. It just goes to show that even ruins can be beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHugs, my friend
Oz
Sweet William, we still have our fingers and paws crossed that you will get better without surgery.
ReplyDeleteOh but you should have seen Gail twisting her hands all over the place trying to remember the movements to the 'here's the church and here's the steeple' thing. I think her slightly arthritic hands found walking the parson up the stairs a bit more difficult than the last time she attempted it (about 87 years ago!)
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
Glad for the mostly positive check up Sweet William, we have paws and fingers crossed that you do not need to have surgery.
ReplyDeleteEdgar and his mum
P.S. She's never heard the part about the parson waling up the stairs...
WE will keep all pug paws crossed that the medicin does the trick and no surgery will be needed! Love the pictures of the old church - mom says she remembers doing the church thing with her hands and fingers
ReplyDeletehugs
Mr Bailey, Hazel & Mabel
SW, I hope you get to feeling better soon. Tell your mom to put the ice cream in the freezer so you can eat it later. Mom does the hands/church thing with her granddaughter but didn't know the 2nd part to it.
ReplyDeleteAroo to you,
Sully
SHE knows that 'where's the church....' rhyme.
ReplyDeleteIf you can't finish ice cream we KNOW you're not back to your usual self. We are sending you more POTP in hopes that that medicine works and there'll be not surgery.
We continue to keep all our feets crossed for you
ReplyDeleteSnorts,
Lily & Edward
You can do it Wills - you fight that nasty old infection and tell it to leave you alone - we have our paws crossed for you little buddy

ReplyDeleteSweet William I am so happy that you are feeling better and that you are healing. I hope it continues and that the new medicine helps. I think it is cool that you have a new wag. It makes you even more special.
ReplyDeleteLoveys Sasha
We are really happy to hear that you have made some positive progress SW, we are now praying hard that the Clindamycin does its job and clears that infection up. It upsets us to think that not even a delicious vanilla ice-cream with a treat in it couldn't entice you...we can only imagine how "BLUGH" you must be feeling to not to want to gobble up such a pawsome treat.
ReplyDeleteYou keep fighting the good fight buddy and know that we are just an e-mail away if you or Lee need anything.
BIG licks & positive vibes,
Wallace & Samuel
