The Changing Season

Why I, Sweet William The Scot, was asked to do a review. I get asked all the time but seldom do I say yes.
Well I got an e-mail along with several other bloggers about doing a book review on a book coming out in February.  And you all know how I like to read.  Why being a reader dog  I just love the smell and feel of a book in my paws and when the author said he would send me a book I jumped at the chance to read an author not familiar to me.
Ed Asner, the actor, said "Manchester's The Changing Season will be to young adults what Old Yeller is to my grandson."
The book is written through the eyes of a teenage boy the summer of his eighteenth year from the time of graduation till fall as he leaves for college.  His journey on finding his career in the world.
Along the way you meet his two friends their family dynamics and how bad decisions always have repercussions.  There is a statement that says justice is karma's twin sister.  How true.
The boys are boys of today with being constant video game junkies.
Billy the main character in a week thinks he has met the love of his life.  With the I Love You, I Love You More thirsty.  In a hurry for the well ~
Thirsty ~ This word used to mean that you wanted something to drink. Now, thirsty means that you are desperate for something. Mostly sex.
The one constant is Jimmy, a mix breed in his twelfth year of dog life.  A boy and his dog, well any story about a person and their dog is kind of what Blogville is about.  Peeps and their animals.

We particularly loved Manchester's last twenty five pages. They were right on with emotion between Jimmy and Billy.  How dogs are there to get us through the toughest of times with their ever unconditional love.
The author Steven Manchester has written bestsellers Twelve Months, Pressed Pennies, Gooseberry Island.
Mr. Manchester served in Operation Desert Storm in 1991.  He has worked in Criminal Justice and he has written 16 books, with 12 being published.

We want to thank him for the opportunity to read his latest book and we are giving our copy to the Hamilton County Library in Nati City.
His book is available on Amazon.

This was on the bumper of a car in front of us this week!
The owner of the car took a double take at us.
I think the guy kind of panicked thinking I was taking a picture of his license plate.
Dalton a character in the book sadly needed this bumper sticker.

Friends don't let the aliens get you this week.

The "I Love You, I Love You More" quote,  Lee got to laughing thinking about  neighbors who moved into the hood several years ago.  It was a May December marriage. Everytime one of them would leave they yelled that till they were out of sight of each other.  They divorced two years later.  The December man was always saying how soft the May wife was.  We ran into him at the grocery he no longer thinks that way driving a beater of a car with fewer pennies in his pocket.
A neighbor got so tired of hearing them yelling about love that he always yelled "dam it I love myself more".  Oh the life and times of life in my hood.
Thanks for being a friend
Traveling down the road and back again
Your heart is true and your a friend of  mine

    1. Yep still married with a darling little daughter. You know Easy I’ve learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in.

Bwwhwhahahaha - Oh SW you made me LOL today - mostly with your response to Easy! I saw this book being reviewed by another blogpal and she wasn't all praise, but admitted that she was well beyond the target market (being an over 60s kinda kid)! Good to see you with your specs on darling dog... Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. I went into the book knowing it was geared to the younger audience for our reader students. I am older than the target audience also.

  4. I like how books feel in my paws too and a lot of time I will pick one over the other based on the feel...weird huh. I'm not a big fan of love stories or if the dog dies but I like a good mystery. Mom check out Manchester's bio because she has a Criminal Justice degree and is an adult probation officer. She is always interesting in supporting authors who is or once was in law enforcement especially the little know authors.

    Aroo to you,

  5. Our mom always has a book or kindle in her hands reading, and she loves good dog stories, this one sounds really good. We thought your hood story was funny also, mom says that to her grandkids, she is building a strong future with him for whens she is old. We loved that bumper sticker, the driver probably thought he was doing something wrong....stella rose

    1. You work at the court house, Sully's mom is a probation officer Blogville has people in the judicial system.
A youth with his first cigar makes himself sick. A youth with his first girl makes everybody sick.
I am sure you know the first love of your children and now soon the grandkids. The book is about that first love and the rush kids today feel to jump in before maturity.

  6. Sweet William, you look most learned in your spectacles. Perhaps you need to review some serious adult literature next?

    1. Oh Bertie I love you like a fat kid loves cake. Lee loves books that entwine fact with fiction. It's in literature that true life can be found. It's under the mask of fiction that you can tell the truth.

  7. Good review, William~
SHE once saw a discussion with top NY divorce lawyers, who said whenever they saw a couple on the street who were wrapped in each other all the time, they knew they had future clients.

I enjoyed reading your review, SWTS!
My boss boy and unfurbro are video game junkies...but they do have degrees from The University Of Michigan...engineering, and unfrubro is going to grad school.
But...um...as fas as I know there are no lovestruck eyes anywhere near either one of them, BOL!! But then my pawrents didn't 'find' eachother until they were much older than those boys are now (23 & 25).
So...that also puts my pawrents into the grey haired generation...Yikes!! BOL!
