Welcome to my porch this year.
My big Begonia pot this year.
The rail box had colorful Lantana, two shades of Angelonia and Ornamental Potato Vine.
Just one of our many flower beds.
Seems this was a season for multiple ears of corn on the same shank.
It's called the MESS Syndrome!
Some genetic backgrounds are more prone to this type of multiple ear development and that certain growing conditions encourage the MESS Syndrome with these hybrids.
2006 was the first rash of the odd ears reported in Indiana and Illinois.
I like the side corn ears because Lee lets me eat them.
They are the right size for me.
Thanks for being a friend

It's great to hear from you Sweet William. You sure have some great flower pots on your porch.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful! We love to find corn that has little ones growing on the side. Save them to put into your next stir-fry. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful. We don't have many flowers....just flowering bushes and trees. However, we just had a whole day and night of rain. First for months. Bella says to meet her in the corn field and she'll kiss you behind the ears...
ReplyDeleteWe have not heard that saying in years and yes Bella I'll meet you in the corn field for those kisses behind my ears.

ReplyDeleteThose little sidecorns would be great in stirfry... or for pups to chew down on!!! Glad Lee is generous with them SW - and it is wonderfurs to see you pop up on our screens. Hope you and Lee have had a fun summer and are prepared for the colder weather! hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx
Those are lovely flowers, but until reading this, we thought MESS syndrome just referred to the normal state of Gail's study...
ReplyDeleteToodle pip!
Bertie.
You sure have the prettiest flowers, William and who knew there was corn on the cob just our size!
ReplyDeleteHi Sweet Wil. The only flower I knew was the begonia (I am flower ignorant) and it sure is pretty. And how interesting about the corn! It says I am following you, but I never get a notification of a post and you don't show up in my reader. :( I wish I could fix this.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you Wills. Glad your flowers enjoyed this summer weather. I have to say in my part of the world all of the rain and heat was not a good mix for my flowers. I did not know about the little corns but glad to see that Lee shares with you.
ReplyDeleteEven with the terrible heat even our grass stayed green this year. The only things that wilted were us.

Lovely flowers Lee and Wills! I didn't do much with flowers this year. Pretty much let the yard go. I hope to do better next year. Sending many good wishes for a lovely and happy fall for both of you!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing all your pretty flowers! I wish I could sample your corn...petcretary doesn't even buy those anymore...sigh...
ReplyDeleteWe are enjoying the nicer sunny crisp days that October brings. (Mostly)But today its rainy and 57F, and Monday is supposed to be 81F. Topsy turvey, BOL!
Enjoy your fall times, SWTS! And I hope you and Miss Lee are fairing well.

I don't care how many red flowers you plant. Your Reds aren't going to win this year. You oughta be Schott. Planting red flowers and having more ears isn't gonna change it.
ReplyDeleteWe need a Schottzie to Christen the field before the games! And some good shit slides. That would do it! Dogs Rule
