Sitting On Money

Okie Dokie Lee told me, Sweet William The Scot, I had to go to the Main Branch Library.
Well we arrived early and was waiting for the door to open.  As we were waiting I said to Lee we have gone by this sculpture like a million times, what is it?  Lee said dang if she knew!
Lee looked it up on the internet to see.
Well it is a  3,800-pound, 20-foot tall painted steel sculpture by Louise Nevelson.  It is called
Sky Landscape II.
It was commissioned by Macy's.
It was given to the City of Cincinnati and relocated here at my library.
A Louise Nevelson Sculpture, I was sitting on big money figuratively and literally.
Nevelson was an American sculptor but born in Kiev, Russia, and at age five, moved to the States.
A unique feature of her work is that her figures are often painted in monochromatic black or white.
Yep this sculpture is as black as me.
Her work is seen in major collections in museums and corporations but this one sits right outside my Main Branch Library in Nati City.
Each viewing angle yields new juxtapositions.  Juxtaposition is a circumstance where two unlike things are next to one another. Yep I see that in this sculpture.

It is said she smoked small cigars, and wore exceedingly long, fake eyelashes was thin and draped clothes haphazardly.  Lee says she needs to develop a look.  I have my look, yep I have a long beard and a boy skirt!
As for sitting on money well when I stood up dang I had a quarter stuck to my bum by chewed gum.
Yuk was it sticky and dam did that hurt when Lee pulled it off.
The heat index is like a 105 degrees.
I see you in there!
Open Up we are under a heat alert!

Thanks for being a friend

Lee promised me a ride on the ducks and we missed the boat.
As usual missing the boat around here happens often.
We were right across the street and there goes the boat around the corner.  Yep these Ducks take you across the Ohio River from Nati to Newport, Kentucky.  Dog Gone It!

  1. Ringy-dingy-dote, it seems you missed the boat! BOL We have a duck thing like that too...it takes you along Palm Beach so you can see all the mansions. I love that sculpture though it is too bad someone put gum on the ground for you to sit on. Ouch! And you must be made of Magic if you can pull a quarter off your bum! BOL

  2. All this diversion about statues and duck rides is to take our attention away from the fact that you'll be doing time in the state pen for failure to pay your overdue book fines.

    1. It is so hot you could fry an egg outside so Lee gave me my bath outside today. First time for that and I made a game of bath time. I liked it!

We can only go into the library if mom is carrying me which I am to heavy or else mom is to weak, or if I am in a baby stroller so that is what we do, geeze, we have the Ducks down in branson, where you go out in the lake on these boats called ducks, so far mom has not taken me there just the grandpoops. stella rsoe

  17. What a funny title - but I'm sorry about the chewing gum. Yuck. At least you got a quarter out of the deal.

  18. Ooh! Gum on your Bum. UGH.
At least it was worth two bits, BOL!

What a powerful statement that sculpture makes!

When I read the title, I thought you were going to make some kind of report about this idea:In Medieval Holland, there was an expression about sitting on your moneuy...which is what nobility did to protect it. It was in a false bottomed chair and it was literally hiding the money when it was sat on by the owner of said $$. ('Op je Geld sitten'.)
Maybe we need to start that way of saving our quarters once again:)
