One Of My Favorite Things

Mariemont is one of the nation's most walkable communities. I love going down my hill and driving the four miles to the Square.

Founded in the 1920s Mariemont is a planned community. Mariemont exhibits English architecture from Norman to classic Georgian style. The village square serves as the community center. Mariemont also has one of the few elected Town Criers remaining in North America. It has several nice small parks and a carillon, I will show you those later.
Right now I see what I want to show you.
                                       Graeters ice cream parlor

Lee went inside.  What is Lee getting us this evening!
I have to be patient and wait.

All gone.  Graeters has the best ice cream!  Graeters founded in 1870 home of irresistible ice cream. Graeter’s has perfected its traditional French Pot process, making the world’s finest ice cream just two gallons at a time. It’s the only way to achieve the irresistible creaminess that is Graeter’s.
If you were here I would treat you to ice cream.

Who Let The Pigs Out

Cincinnati  ~ The nickname Porkopolis was coined around 1835, when Cincinnati was the country's chief  hog packing center, and herds of pigs traveled the streets.  We host the Flying Pig Marathon every May.  Cincinnati is kind of an Artsy Fartsy City.  Every so often we let the pigs out.

The Big Pig Gig is an arts project and fundraiser for ArtWorks, a non-profit that connects artists of all ages with opportunities in the arts through apprenticeships, community partnerships, and public art
The Big Pig Gig: Do-Re-Wee, features 100 adopted and decorated Pigs

I, Sweet William The Scot, want a Piggy Bank this size!

ANSWER TO NAME THAT SONG

GUITAR AND PEN BY THE WHO
Well only two dogs had that correct answer. Since I, Sweet William The Scot, said the third one with the correct answer so as to give people over on the other side of the pond a chance with the time difference. I am not going to give a tote this time. The two with the correct answer will have their names put into the draw for the last tote, of course they can keep trying with other songs.
FINN gave the correct answer back to back of leaving me the first post. Finn knew the answer instantly when he saw the picture.
GEORGE THE LAD also answered back to back but he had to ask his Dad and it took 23 minutes.
THE SLIMMER PUGS  also had the correct answer BUT they guessed the song on their second guess. One guess only.
Now the clues were the two items close to me Lee's guitar and a pen. If you did not know this song, all you had to do was to put into ANY SEARCH ENGINE, song with words guitar and pen and it would have been the first answer you got. To make sure you were right I left another clue, my scarf is the Olympic scarf and I posted the day after the Olympic closing ceremony. The Who performed in the closing ceremony.
FACTS The Who performed at Woodstock on the second day and they performed in my home town of Cincinnati in 1979 where eleven fans were killed by compressive asphyxia and several dozen others injured in the rush for seating at the opening of a sold-out concert.  You hear this song on a lot of Ringtones.
I had several answers that were really good answers just not the right one like I Write The Songs by Barry Manilow left by Madi and Sarge. Well everybody who left me an answer they are now posted. Some of the answers really cracked me up.
MY NEXT ROUND OF NAME THAT SONG WILL BE THE FIRST WEEK IN SEPTEMBER, so you'll come back now.

Come Play With Me

Before I start my post I, Sweet William The Scot, am bringing you this paid by me political announcement for the VOTE STUART THUNDERSHIRT CAMPAIGN. Stuart is running for Thundershirt Representative. VOTE STUART here http://www.thundershirt.com/contest/#!/entry/428671. You can vote everyday. Stuart will keep his promises, he stands for what he believes. He wears his Thundershirt with pride. Oh shucks pretty pretty please vote for my friend Stuart!
 .
Lee, that is my peep, says it is more blessed to give than receive.   Yep that is what she says, jeez, I got one real dud of a peep.  I don't know what is wrong with her.  Well anyone can play!   You don't have to belong to my blog.
We are going to play NAME THAT SONG.   I, Sweet William The Scot, will be giving you clues to the song by CHARADES.   Yep that is right, the pictures will be the clues to the song.
You must leave me two comments.   One comment to post and one comment with the name of the song and artist.  You get just ONE guess!  The third dog, cat, bird, crab whatever will be my winner.  Only one prize per animal family.

You have to outwit and outplay your fellow bloggers.  You can post a comment then come back  and put in your guess as to the song title whenever you want.  Your comment with the song title and who sang the song will not appear until I, Sweet William The Scot, decides!

Side effects of playing this game may be singing a song in your head for weeks.  Not being able to sleep for thinking of what the song might be.  I am not responsible for any unusual side effects.   Well you get the picture hehehe.
Game may end without all prizes given away.  All prizes unclaimed will be mine.   All prizes are the responsibility of the new owner.   YADA YADA YADA YADA
Now did I mention the game has already started!
You have the clues in my picture.

Now for the prizes.   We have four totes, my personal logo.  You choose which tote you want.  Now everyone who leaves me the correct answer, but is not the third correct one will have their name put into a draw for the last tote.  Oh did I forget to tell ya that we have packed things in the totes?  So you could get a tote that has a lot of things or a tote that has very little.  Your destiny is yours to choose.  One more thing, you will be playing for yourself and your Peep!  Because we have Peep prizes packed.  Lee did we pack a peck of pickled peppers?  So if you are mad at your Peep don't play.  Oh you get my drift don't YA?

My Humongous Park & Lovely Blog Award

Well here I am at the center of my humongous, herculean, colossal, prodigious, stupendous big big park. Five miles from my home. The hill you see in the background is the state of Kentucky.

Because my park sits on a steep hillside over the river, it almost always has a good enough breeze to fly a kite. From the overlook you can see Moscow, Ohio up river and down river to Cincinnati.

You ask how big is my park, well with just over 1004 acres, this park has everything you can think of to keep me entertained. My big park is Woodland Mound Park. Outlining the majority of the park's land is a 1.2 mile multi-use paved trail. Because it has dual lanes, bikers, rollerbladers, runners, and walkers can co-exist at their respective pace without interruption. Especially unique are three wooded hiking trails. One specific trail, called Parcours, has 18 workout stations focusing on each muscle group throughout its nine-tenths mile course. The remaining trails are eight-tenths and six-tenths of a mile.

Well look at these steps back in the deep woods. Does this step picture give you a hint as to who I am passing the award on to?  The George and Tess Adventures. They take me to places I will never see. Their mom takes the best pictures, she makes her countryside come alive.  And I, Sweet William The Scot, think you have a very lovely lovely blog.  The award is the one with the pink cup on my sidebar.  I have a cup of Earl Grey when I view your blog.
Now I have to thank Freddie, Gloria and their Mom for giving us the award. Basset Momma from Ontario, Canada she has a delightful blog and Freddie is always up to something.

Hyde Park Square & Very Inspiring Blogger Award

Hyde Park Square ~ a dog friendly neighborhood.  Hyde Park is an eclectic neighborhood in eastern Cincinnati.
Oh me, Oh my, I have been bad about passing on the Awards I have been given. So today I am doing the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.   To the top right of my picture.
When I get an award I feel a sense of pride and I don't pass them on lightly.

Who inspires us, Kim from Life at Golden Pines. Her heart for dogs in need is boundless. One of the dogs she took in recently died, Sam. Kim had Sam I believe because his owner had cancer and could no longer care for him. Kim posted when Sam died that his owner had recently passed also. I like to think Sam knew and let his body release to the bridge so he could be with his owner.
A person who can take in dogs in need, and give, knowing you will not have much time with them is an inspiration to us. So I am only naming Life at Golden Pines. And I most certainly don't expect Kim to follow the rules of this award.

I came across this Dog Will and I thought how appropriate for this post.

Before humans die they write their Last Will and Testament give the homes and all they have, to those they leave behind.

If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I'd ask...
To the poor and lonely stray I'd give:
~ My happy home
~ My bowl and cozy bed, soft pillow and all my toys.
~ The lap, which I loved so much.
~ The hand that stroked my fur & and the sweet voice which spoke my name.
I'd will to the sad, scared shelter dog, the place I had in my
human's loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.
So, when I die, please do not say, "I will never have a pet again,
for the loss and pain, is more than I can stand,"
Instead, go find an unloved dog, one whose life has
held no joy or hope and give MY place to HIM.
This is the only thing I can give....
The love I left behind

Thank you Susie and Sidebite for nominating me. You two have been the bestest friends a scot could want.
I am suppose to share seven things about myself.
Well it is just Lee and I and when we are lonely we love to look at other blogs.
I, Sweet William The Scot, was inbred terribly.
I have deformed front legs that go out 80 degrees at the ankles.
I love almost every person I come into contact with.
I hate puppy mills!
I love the camera and most of my pictures are taken in two shots.
I love popcorn.
