The Real Deal

Well I tricked you in my last postie saying those were my flowers. Now I want to show you some of Lee's and my true flowers that are blooming now.
Our Hydrangea is beautiful. I hide in here and become a Will-o'-the-Wisp with supernatural powers to spy on my neighbors. I watch for forbidden, illegal, illicit actions.
Our Daylilies and Russian Purple Sage are at full bloom. I keep watch so the deer stay away. For the last three years the deer have eaten the Daylilies. Lee planted the Russian Purple Sage last year after being told it was a deer deterrent. Well the deer have left us alone this year. I think I, Sweet William The Scot, am the deterrent ya think?  Lee thinks it is the Sage that is keeping the deer away.

Now look at the flowers behind me. They say a tree grows in Brooklyn. Well a Prickly Pear Cactus grows in Cincinnati. Last year our low was -6 degrees, we had a mild winter. Yet our cactus grows and it is one of the largest in the area.
Kylascott out there in Arizona I challenge you to show me a cactus with more flowers. Over seven hundred blooms. Yes, I counted them myself last year.
Next time I will show you what I got from Reilly and Denny over at Cowspotblog.  And a big thanks to Basset Momma for giving us The Lovely Blog Award.  That is our to do list.
Thanks for being a friend

Pssssssss ~ It took us 57 hours to get our music back up.  The server we used was not nice and took our tune away.  We had to find another way to get our music back.  We did not want the music to die.

  12. Wow! That is a most impressive prickly pear! Just watch out for little pieces that fall off - they are rather painful when you step on them.

  18. Your music is beautiful and you make those blossoms even more lovely too!

We have a lost cactus blooming along side the road here--I need to stop and get its picture, but I have a feeling it won't have nearly as many blooms as yours--I hope you're doing well, and I hope you have a good Tuesday!!

  20. Hey, Sweet William! Kudos for fighting to keep your beautiful blog the way YOU want it! Mama says you can tell real Scots by whether they love bagpipe music. She does. We're ok with it [we don't howl or anything] and Jed is a Nova SCOTIA Duck Tolling Retriever, after all.

Gorgeous flowers! And we also think you get the credit for scaring off the deer. Bet they'd be eating the Russian sage, too, if not for you. Hungry deer will eat almost anything. Actually, hungry anything will eat almost anything. :)

  21. SW, those flowers are amazing. My Two Legged Ones aren't the best garden people (I'm being nice - She can kill a plant just by looking at it!) so it's lovely to see flowers that actually grow and bloom!

Love the music by the way! Pawsome.

    Woof.

  22. Hi William-I could show you a 15 foot cactus with more blooms, but you'll have to "wait until next year" because the season for blooms on that one is over. I even saw (very) small cactus in Montana where it gets a lot colder than Ohio. It's the terrier of plant life, very rugged and determined.
